HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. — A grain bin accident in southern Harvey County left one-person dead Saturday afternoon.
Emergency personnel were dispatched at approximately 2:30 p.m. to the 2100 block of South Spencer Road after receiving a report of a man trapped inside a grain bin.
Authorities said three men were working to level and empty soybeans inside a large grain bin when the contents suddenly shifted, trapping one of the workers.
The trapped man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men were able to escape without injury.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
Officials have ruled the death accidental.
Traffic along South Spencer Road was temporarily rerouted during the emergency response but has since reopened.
