Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the unit block of East 1st on the north side.
The Fox Theatre building was constructed in 1930 and addressed as 14-16-18 E. 1st. The first two building slots have always been rented out to related businesses. The first photo shows those two business addresses next to the Fox.

The 14 E. 1st slot was originally the iconic Karmelkorn Shop in 1932, owned by Dolph Morrison.
By 1941, the Karmelkorn Shop was owned by Don & Lafuan Farrow.
In 1950, the 16 E. 1st slot became Adrian's Record Shop, owned by Adrian Leonida. His family owned the Hollywood Grill on the east side of the Fox Theatre. The second photo shows Adrian's Record Shop in 1954.

In 1959, it became the Hi-Note Record Shop, owned by Fred Conger of KWBW Radio fame.
In 1961, it was purchased by Dorce Hayes. The third photo shows both the Karmelkorn at 14 E. 1st and the Hi-Note at 16 E. 1st in 1962.

The Karmelkorn Shop closed in 1964 and the Hi-Note closed in 1967. The fourth photo shows the buildings today with the 14 and 16 slots now being used as the Fox Theatre Box Offices. The whole complex is owned by the Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre Inc.
