SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Construction season is in full swing and Reno County Public Works said Monday that the Nickerson Road Bridge over the Arkansas River near 69th Avenue will close for bridge replacement beginning Wednesday, July 8th.
The project will have 280 working days. Reno County Public Works Director Don Brittain said that crews typically don't work on Sunday and he doesn't count bad weather days toward their allotment, so it will likely be almost a year before the bridge reopens again. The hope is that they would not have the bridge closed for the 2021 harvest season. A detour route around the bridge will be signed.
Also underway is a resurfacing project on Parallel Road from K-11 east to Dean Road. That project, which started last week, should take about a month.
