HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A national restaurant chain may be eyeing Hutchinson for a future location.
The City of Hutchinson confirmed that a site plan application connected to Chipotle was submitted on May 21, signaling potential interest from the company in bringing a restaurant to the community. The plan details the location of the now unused carwash at the Kwik Shop on the corner of East 17th Avenue and Lorraine Streets.
While no official location or construction timeline has been announced, Chipotle spokesperson Mohit Patel said the company is exploring opportunities in Hutchinson.
“We cannot confirm a location at this time, but we are exploring opportunities to bring our real food to Hutchinson,” Patel said in a statement. “Those are the only details I have to share right now, but feel free to check back for updates.”
The city has not released additional details tied to the site plan application.
Chipotle Mexican Grill operates more than 3,500 restaurants across the United States and internationally, with locations throughout Kansas including Wichita, Salina, Manhattan and Topeka.
If plans move forward, the restaurant would mark another national chain expansion into Hutchinson as the city continues to see commercial development activity.
