County's unemployment rate inches up in November

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After several months of positive trends downward, Reno County’s unemployment rate jumped nearly 1% in November.

The unemployment rate for the county increased 8/10ths of 1% to 5.3%. It’s the first increase since April. 

There were 1,672 county residents out of work, an increase of 217 workers. The jobless rate for the city of Hutchinson was also up at 5.8%, an increase of 7/10ths of 1%. There were 1,160 city residents out of work.

The state's jobless rate for November jumped from 4.7% to 5.3%.
