Hutchinson CC Sports Information
With a pair of victories, including one win over a nationally ranked opponent, entering the holiday break, the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team hopes that momentum carries over through a 21-day break.
The Blue Dragons (9-5, 4-4 KJCCC) begin the second half of the 2025-26 season at 3 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to play the Colby Trojans (3-10, 1-6 KJCCC) at the Colby Event Center.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 2:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 2:45 p.m.
Getting back to .500 in league play after a 75-62 win over Cloud County on December 13 at the Sports Arena to enter the holiday break, the Blue Dragons are tied with Barton for eighth place in the KJCCC Division I standings. Hutchinson is just two games out of first place, though. Seward County leads the league at 6-2. Four teams are just 0.5 games off that pace.
Sophomore Kyrell Shaw leads the Blue Dragons in scoring at the mid-point of the season at 18.9 points per game, which is No. 2 in the KJCCC in scoring. Shaw, who earlier this season had a career-high 37 points, comes off a 28-point outing against Cloud County on December 13.
Sophomore Bobby Cannon is second on the team and fifth in the KJCCC in scoring at 15.9 points per game.
Sophomore point guard Lolo Rudolph leads the Jayhawk in assists at 5.9 assists per game. He has two games of 10 or more assists this season, including a career-best 11 against Garden City. Freshman Chudier Dorar is third in the KJCCC in blocked shots at 3.0 rejections per game.
As a team, the Blue Dragons are now tied for the lowest team scoring average allowed in the KJCCC at 68.8 points per game. The Blue Dragons have gone five-straight games without allowing 70 or more points. That's the longest streak since five games in a row in the 2016-17 season.
Colby enters play ranked ninth in the KJCCC in scoring at 77.5 points per game. The Trojans allow 82.6 points per game.
Sophomore D.J. Cason is Colby's leading scorer at 14.2 points per game. Giannis Asimakopoulos averages 11.1 points per game.
Both games between Hutchinson and Colby had a combined point differential of three points. The Dragons won 81-80 in the Sports Arena and 65-63 in Colby.
