HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A stellar three-week run to the Jayhawk Conference postseason football title was not enough to improve Hutchinson Community College's resume in the eyes of NJCAA poll voters and get them a chance to repeat as national champions.
In the poll released on Monday, Hutchinson improved three spots from last week to No. 5 overall, just on the outside looking in at Iowa Western, New Mexico Military, Northwest Mississippi and Snow, the top 4 teams in the poll.
An announcement is expected at 1 p.m. Tuesday on the participants in the Salt City Bowl in Hutchinson Dec. 4.
