CEDAR COUNTY —A Kansas man drowned over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 60-year-old Craig H. Olson of Shawnee, Kansas was swimming near a 2008 Landau Pontoon boat in the first cove west of the Stockton Dam just after 6p.m. July 6.
Olson dove near the boat, resurfaced and then swam towards the boat. He went under again and did not resurface, according to the patrol.
A Cedar County Deputy Coroner Joe Trussel pronounced Olson dead at the scene just after 8p.m. He was to transported Brumback Funeral Home. Olson was not wearing a life jacket, according to the patrol
