Fourth Kansan has died from injuries in head-on crash

CASS COUNTY, MO., —A fifth person and fourth from Kansas had died as a result of Monday's violent crash in Cass County, Misssouri.

Dakota Engel, 29, Junction City, who was transported to Research Medical Center with serious injuries died Tuesday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The agency  reported a 2000 Peterbilt semi driven by Everett E. Ashley, Lowry City, Missouri, was southbound on MO 7 at Route Z.

The driver lost control of the semi. It traveled down an embankment and crossed the median into the northbound lanes of MO 7. 

The semi struck a northbound Nissan SUV driven by Stephen W. Bennett, 61, Junction City, head-on.

Ashley and three passengers in the SUV including Gerald R. Dittman, 68, Hope, Kansas and Jean M. Pariseau, 71 Herington, Kansas were pronounced dead at the scene.

Harrisonville EMS transported Bennett to Cass Regional Medical Center where he died. Life Flight transported a third passenger in the SUV identified as Dakota M. Engel, 29, Junction City, to Research Medical Center for treatment where he died.
