HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Buhler school bus was hit Monday afternoon east of Hutchinson. According to the Reno County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies with the Reno County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a school bus, belonging to the Buhler School District, at 7705 E 4th Ave, Hutchinson, KS.

When deputies arrived on scene they made contact with the bus driver a 69 year old male of McPherson, KS and the driver of a second involved vehicle, a 28 year old female of Hutchinson, KS.

During a thorough accident investigation, deputies determined the car was following the school bus too closely and ran her vehicle into the rear of the bus while it was stopped to let a child off. A witness confirmed the flashing lights and stop sign were functioning on the bus at the time of the accident.

Due to contradicting reports, it is unclear whether the final child was off the bus at the time of impact. All parties reported no injuries and were wearing their seatbelts.

The bus was driven from the scene and a tow service removed the second vehicle. The driver of the striking car was arrested for driving while revoked and cited for following too closely.
