
SALINA, Kan. — Buhler High School junior Macey Parks had quite the day on Saturday, claiming the class 4A state title at 145 pounds at Tony's Pizza Events Center.
The win also marked Parks' 100th career victory as a Crusader.
Parks defeated Taya Rowley of Chapman, 6-5.
She jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first period thanks to a takedown and a nearfall. Rowley pulled within 6-2 after the first period, and then 6-3 after the second period. Rowley scored on an escape and after a stalling penalty to pull within the 6-5 margin.
Parks finishes her junior year with a 35-7 record.
On the boys side, Buhler had two in the finals, Cruz Hershberger and Sammy Hershberger, each of them finished as state runner-ups. Luke Kerns finished in fifth place.
