PRATT, Kan. — Pratt city officials are mourning the death of City Commissioner Doug Meyer, who served the community for 11 years, including two years as mayor.
During his time in office, Meyer helped lead and support numerous projects that shaped the community. City officials remembered him for his commitment to Pratt residents and his willingness to listen and work toward what he believed was best for the city.
Meyer was also described as a steadfast supporter of city employees, law enforcement officers and residents.
“His years of service, dedication and friendship have left a lasting mark on the City of Pratt, and he will be deeply missed,” the city said in a statement.
City officials extended their thoughts, prayers and sympathies to Meyer’s wife, Jan, and their family.
“We are grateful for the many years Doug gave to our community and for the legacy he leaves behind,” the city said. “Thank you, Doug, for your service to the City of Pratt. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.”
