Hutchinson CC Sports Information
After a strong runner-up finish last week at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic, the Hutchinson Community College women's cross country team is ranked No. 4 in the first United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Division I poll of the season.
The Blue Dragons had two runners place in the top 3 of the Masterson Twilight last week at Fun Valley to finish second in the team race. Ashara Frater was the individual champion and Kimberlin Lovell finished third to lead Hutchinson.
The Top 5 of the first regular-season poll has Iowa Western at No. 1, Odessa at No. 2, Snow at No. 3, Hutchinson at No. 4 and KJCCC rival Butler at No. 5.
Five other KJCCC schools are ranked from No. 11 to 22. Cloud County is No. 11, Dodge City is No. 15, Fort Hays Tech Northwest is No. 17, Garden City is No. 21 and Colby is No. 22.
Last season the Blue Dragon women finished third as a team in the NJCAA National Championship. Dating back to last season, the Blue Dragons have been ranked in the Top 5 in six consecutive polls.
The Blue Dragons next be in competition on Saturday, October 3 at the Chili Pepper Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
