Charles Louis Miskimen, Jr., 90, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home.  He was born August 3, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Charles Louis Sr. and Hilda E. (Anderson) Miskimen.

Charles served in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1952 – 1954, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He owned and operated his own business, Chuck’s Electric, in Cedar Rapids, IA, working as a Master Electrician.  Charles later sold insurance for Farmers Elevator Mutual Insurance Company, later known as Farmland Insurance Company, for 20 years.  Following this, Charles started Heritage House Floral and Gift Shop in McPherson, KS, until 1998.

Charles was a charter member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids, where he helped start and build.  He would often lead the music and singing in the church, while Norma played the organ or piano. He later joined the Church of the Nazarene in McPherson.  Most recently, Charles has been a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Newton.  He was also a member of the American Legion in Newton.

He and his family enjoyed watching the planes land and take off at the local airport.  Charles pursued and obtained his pilot’s license, eventually purchasing his own private plane so the family could continue to enjoy this hobby together.

He was united in marriage to Norma Price on October 6, 1956.  She preceded him in death on March 1, 1993.  Charles later married Dona (Price) Paulsen on June 5, 1993. 

Survivors include his wife, Dona Miskimen; daughters, Jeannine (Tom) Emmons of Wentzville, MO, and Beth (Lee) VanHyfte of Palo, IA; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Norma Miskimen; three brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at First Church of the Nazarene, 1000 N Main Street, Newton, KS.  Private family graveside services will be held at McPherson Cemetery prior to the service.  Family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, at Moundridge Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, PO Box 410, Moundridge, KS 67107.
