🏀 HutchCC women dominate Pratt

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Landon Forbes scored 18 points and had nine steals, as the No. 11 Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team cruised to an 85-44 win over Pratt on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons are now 25-3 overall, 19-3 in Jayhawk Conference play with two games left in the regular season.

HutchCC jumped out to a 9-0 run, before Pratt knocked down three straight 3-pointers to tie the game at nine. The Blue Dragons led 21-14 after the first quarter.

Hutchinson continued to build its lead as the game progressed, outscoring Pratt 23-9 in the second quarter and 24-10 in the third quarter. 

Hailey Jackson, Jada Pleasant and Forbes each hit two 3-pointers a piece, part of 10 made 3-pointers by the Blue Dragons. 

Hutchinson out-rebounded Pratt, 43-31, including 23 offensive boards. The Blue Dragons converted those to 17 second chance points.

The Blue Dragons finished with 12 turnovers, while the Beavers had 29. The 29 turnovers led to 42 Hutch points, while Pratt didn't score off of HutchCC turnovers.

Pratt (8-20, 3-19) was led by La'Kyra Johnson, who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. 

Pratt shot 29% from the floor, while Hutchinson shot 41%. Both teams were successful at the line, as Pratt knocked down 12 of 13 free throws, and Hutchinson 13 of 16.

Hutchinson will travel to Liberal on Saturday to play Seward County in the Greenhouse. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be heard on KHUT-FM (102.9) and KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with pregame at 1:45 p.m. with Sean Boston and Daren Dunn.
