
Wichita, KS – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals scored five second inning runs and scored a season high 15 runs to defeat the Wichita Wind Surge 15-5. The two teams split the six game series.
Wichita started out with a 2-0 lead in the first but the Naturals pulled ahead in the second by sending five runners home. Robbie Glendinning hit a three-run shot and Jeison Guzman hit a two-run shot.
The Surge cut the deficit to 5-3 in the third after Alex Isola grounded out, scoring Jake Rucker. Northwest Arkansas hit two RBI singles in the fourth.
The Wind Surge sent eight hitters to the plate in the fifth inning scoring three runs to pull within two. Dante Biasi entered and bailed out the Naturals and the Surge left the bases loaded.
The Naturals had a 7-5 lead on the board, Peyton Wilson hit a solo shot and Tresh hit an inside-the-park home run in the eighth. Tresh added an RBI single the Naturals hit a two-run homer and a solo shot in the ninth.
Chad Donato made his first career start with the Surge on the hill. He struck out one and walked two in a little over one inning. Six pitchers came out of the bullpen for Wichita on Sunday, which is a season high. Donato got the loss and Dante Biasi earned the win.
NOTES – Wichita gave up a season high 15 runs. Brooks Lee continues his hitting streak at eight games. The inside the park home run was the second ever at Riverfront Stadium. Will Holland hit the first in 2022.
UPCOMING – Wichita will play against the Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate the Tulsa Drillers in a six-game series next week.
