JoAnn Johnston, 92, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Hutchinson, to Oscar and Georgia (Baxley) Moore.
JoAnn graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and a mother. JoAnn also worked as a teacher’s aide for a special education class for a time. While living in Texas she was active in her church, especially helping with bereavement dinners. JoAnn was also very talented at crocheting.
On March 20, 1949, she married Travis Johnston, in Hutchinson. They shared 65 years together before he passed away on June 5, 2014.
JoAnn is survived by daughter, Jean Gordon (Jim), Hutchinson; son, Jim Johnston (Charla), Spring Hill; daughter, Jill Osborn (Steve), St. Louis, Missouri; son, Joe Johnston (Beth), College Station, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Travis Johnston; daughter, Jane Johnston; and brother, Jim Moore.
Private family funeral service will be Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may watch the service on the Elliott Mortuary website beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 12p.m. on Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
