HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As the Reno County Museum comes down the stretch toward the Appraisal Fair on Saturday at Memorial Hall, Katie Broker with the museum says spots are filling up.
"We're getting calls every day about it," Broker said. "It's a really unique fundraiser for us, our first time ever doing this. We're getting a lot of help from the antique district downtown, so a lot of local appraisers will be there, from Toy Depot, Bookends, Salt City Coin, Nicholaus Jewelry and many, many more."
You can still get two items appraised for a donation of just $25. It's not something the museum can normally do.
"We get calls and questions like that a lot," Broker said. "That's something that we, at a museum, cannot tell you. However, we can hook you up with local people who are able to tell you that. All funds go back to the museum to help with the preservation of local history."
There are lots of different reasons to get an item appraised, including insurance, or actually looking to sell an item.
"It gives you a general market value of your items," Broker said. "Now, that's what it would sell for. That doesn't necessarily mean that's how much you would get for it if you did sell it, but that would be the top value that you're going to get."
