Robert Ralph ‘Rob’ Mitzner, 61, died Dec. 28, 2020. He was born July 23, 1959, in Hutchinson, to William Wayne and Ellen Ruby (Rush) Mitzner.

He was a 1977 graduate of Fairfield High School, attended Ft. Scott Community College, and a member of Abbyville Community Church. Rob was a Kansas High School Rodeo Association 1976-77 bareback rider champion. It entitled him to compete in the National High School Rodeo finals in that event, in which he placed 4th.

Rob was a farmer, diesel mechanic, and an owner/operator of a trucking company. He also was a thoroughbred horse trainer.

He married Virginia ‘Lorene’ Blue on March 24, 1979, at the Arlington Presbyterian Church. His wife, Lorene of 41 years, survives.

Also surviving are children, Robin Morrell and husband Luke of South Hutchinson, Levi Mitzner and wife Breanna of Abbyville, and Hollee Mitzner of Hutchinson; mother, Ellen Mitzner of Abbyville; siblings, Ron Mitzner and wife Janet, and Shirley Gamble, all of Abbyville, and Debra Ehling and husband Randall of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Colton, Adaylee and Rylan Morrell, and Jazzlynn Blakey; and many nieces and nephews.

Rob was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Abbyville Community Church, with Pastor Dale Levering officiating. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery.
