GREAT BEND, Kan. — The Great Bend Bat Cats scored pairs of runs in the 4th and 5th innnings to stake them to a 4-0 lead and the Hutchinson Monarchs rallying to get the game within one run by the 7th ultimately came up short in a 4-3 Great Bend win at Al Burns Field Saturday.
The Monarchs were held to just four hits, with Joey Baran the only Hutchinson player with more than one hit as he went two for three with an RBI.
Clay Wesbrooks took the loss for Hutchinson.
The Monarchs, now 12-5, are off Sunday before returning to Al Burns for another game Monday in Great Bend.
