
SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after a weekend arrest.
Just after 6p.m. Saturday, a patrol officer in the 1100 block of North Ninth Street in Salina observed a southbound 2014 KIA Soul, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. The officer discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Wichita.
The officer made contact with the driver identified as Arthur Strickland, 31, of Salina, after the vehicle pulled into the Pump Mart, 1118 North Ninth Street.
Police conducted a search of the vehicle. They located and seized 1.35 pounds of methamphetamine, $3,855 in cash, and a Springfield 1911 .45 caliber handgun.
Officer arrested Strickland on requested charges of Possession with intent to distribute a certain stimulant, No drug tax stamp, Felony possession of drug paraphernalia, Criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and No proof of insurance, according to Forrester.
