
GRAPEVINE, Texas — The Sterling College softball team will enter the NCCAA World Series as the No. 2 seed when the national tournament begins Monday in Grapevine, Texas. The Warriors secured an automatic bid after capturing the NCCAA Central Region title and will open the three-day event against No. 7 seed Southwestern Christian University at 1 p.m.
Sterling is led by head coach Taylor Lira, who was named the NCCAA Central Region Coach of the Year. Now in her fourth season at the helm, Lira has guided the Lady Warriors to one of their best campaigns in program history with a 35-17 record.
Southwestern Christian (29-26) enters as the No. 7 seed, led by head coach Kent Williams. SWCU is based in Bethany, Okla.
The winner of Monday’s opener will advance to play the winner of No. 3 Mid-America Christian and No. 6 Geneva College at 6 p.m. that evening.
