HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson firefighters were busy Christmas morning.
At 2 a.m. Wednesday, fire crews were called to the 700 block of East 10th to a structure fire with smoke inside a residence. There was nothing visible on the outside and they went inside. There was light smoke inside the home and they continued searching for the source. They found an issue with the furnace that caused smoldering of the interior wall framing. The wall was exposed and the smoldering was put out. No one was hurt.
Please keep proper clearance around space heaters and heating equipment and make sure that HVAC systems are properly maintained.
Hutchinson Police, Reno County 911 and Reno County EMS assisted with the call.
