Elmer Charles Freund, 85, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham. He was born on August 14, 1936 in Nashville, Kansas to F.M. and Marie (Gorges) Freund. Elmer married Johnna (Cooley) Freund on September 6, 1958 in Hutchinson. They were married for 62 years.

Elmer graduated from Cunningham High School in 1955. He served in the United States Air Force. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for HAC in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of Cunningham Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed aircraft, woodworking, anything mechanical, farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Johnna; daughters, Cindy (Danny) Gibbs and Nancy (Stan) Weglarz both of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; son, Jay (Erin) Freund of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Loren King, Laslee (fiance', Brittany) King, Isaac King, Sophia Freund, Graham Freund and Alec Freund; brothers, Eugene (Clara) Freund of Nashville and Richard (Rose Mary) Freund of Cunningham; and sister, Emma Jane (Marvin) Reif of Colwich.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joann Moore and Margaret Turner.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family present from 5-7 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cunningham with Father Roger Lumbre presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Maud Cemetery, Cunningham.
