While three previous Top 10 teams lost games last week, the Hutchinson Community College football team took care of business and remained perched atop the latest NJCAA Division I Football Rankins, which were released on Monday.

Hutchinson (8-0, 5-0 KJCCC) remained No. 1 for a fourth-straight week after a 38-0 victory on the road on Saturday at Coffeyville.

The Blue Dragons extended their program record for longest consecutive run in the national poll to 72 weeks. The Dragons have been ranked in the top three of the NJCAA Rankings for 66 consecutive polls.

Now with this latest move to No. 1, the Blue Dragons have been ranked No. 1 in 54 of the 91 polls released in the Drew Dallas era.

No. 2 Mississippi Gulf Coach, No. 7 Copiah-Lincoln and No. 8 Itawamba all suffered losses last week and fell to Nos. 5, 14 and 11, respectively.

Iowa Western, Georgia Military and Trinity Valley were the beneficiaries of those losses as those three teams moved into the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 spots.

NEO, this week's Blue Dragon opponent (Noon, Saturday at Gowans Stadium) fell into the receiving votes column. Three weeks ago the Golden Norse were No. 6, but losses to Iowa Western, Butler and Garden City have sent them tumbling out of the rankings.

The remaining Hutchinson regular-season schedule is NEO at home on Saturday, Dodge City on October 31 at Gowans Stadium and Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, Iowa on November 7.

In the KJCCC, Butler climbed two spots to No. 10 while Dodge City dropped two to No. 13 after a loss to the Grizzlies. Future Hutchinson opponent Iowa Central (Nov. 7 in Fort Dodge, Iowa), jumps into the poll at No. 15. Garden City is again receiving votes.
