Priscilla Elaine Nies, age 73, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 13, 2021 at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas
She was born March 11, 1948 in Aberdeen, SD, to Benjamin and Lillian (Trautmann) Wagner. The oldest of 6 children, Priscilla graduated from Ellendale High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Dakota Ellendale.
She married Donavon Nies on August 8, 1969, and they made their first home in Ipswich, SD for 9 years before relocating to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1978. Priscilla worked as a teacher and was a devoted wife and mother. She was committed to working alongside her husband at Central Christian School as an elementary school teacher, preschool teacher, kitchen worker, and in numerous volunteer positions.
She was known for her bubbly personality, love of children, and for being an encouragement to others. Her deep faith in God was evidenced by her constant involvement in the local church through Bible studies, Sunday school, AWANA and other activities over the years, as well as through her passion for missions. Her last decade on this earth was a courageous daily battle with Alzheimer’s.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Wagner; her father, Ben Wagner; sister Bonita Wagner; and brothers, Tim Wagner and Harley Wagner.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donavon; sisters, Shirlene Wagner and Jacqueline Ulstad; son, Gregory Owen Nies and wife Rebecca; daughter, Jennifer Elaine (Nies) Schroeder and husband Gary; granddaughters, Khloe Elaine Schroeder, Hannah Jo Nies, and Elissa Marie Nies; and grandson Kydon Arthur Schroeder.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Medora Community Bible Church, 8311 Medora Road, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
