Muriel W. Schlicher, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to E. Lloyd Hendry and Kathryn (Murphy) Hendry. The family moved to Kansas where she was a graduate of Newton High School Class of 1953 and Wesley School of Nursing Class of 1957.
On June 21, 1958 Muriel married the love of her life Charles W. Schlicher. She was an RN, Charge Nurse and one of the first Oncology Nurses. She retired from St. Francis Hospital after 30 years of nursing in Wichita, Kansas.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, floral gardening, and pie making was her specialty. Her great love for family and spending time with them was of great importance. Yet Muriel's greatest love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, serving Him through ministering to so many people while in the medical field.
Muriel is survived by her children: Vicki Schlicher, Michael Schlicher (Sandee), Lora Newell and John Schlicher (Kay Baker); grandchildren: Ashley Swanson, Kathryn Parsell, Branda Horsch, Kameron Newell, LeAnn Rivera, Miranda Newell, Aislan Ortiz, Cassady Schlicher, Brooklynn Schlicher, Danny Schlicher and Avelynn Schlicher; 11 great grandchildren with 3 on the way; sisters Virginia Mattison of Fairgrove, MO and Cheryl Burnett of Wichita, Ks; many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Schlicher, parents Lloyd and Kathryn Hendry, brothers Jack Hendry, Bill Hendry and Donald Vance Hendry.
Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center. She will be laid to rest at Kechi Township Cemetery 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita.
