
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 23 Hutchinson Community College men's basketball win streak ended at seven with a 91-86 loss to Barton on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons are now 13-6 overall, 9-4 in the Jayhawk Conference.
Barton (15-4, 9-4) ended the first half and started the second half on a 10-0 run to go from down 31-28, to up 38-31 with just over 18 minutes to play. The Cougars built the lead up to 10, but saw the Blue Dragons continue to chip away at the lead.
After Barton led by 12, it's largest lead of the game, with 2:08 to play, Hutchinson pulled within four, but never got any closer.
The Cougars dominated the glass, out rebounding the Blue Dragons 43-34, including 22 offensive rebounds. Barton scored 22 second chance points. Barton also committed just six turnovers.
Hutchinson shot 50% from the floor, including 11 of 18 from behind-the-arc. The Blue Dragons had 16 turnovers in the loss, which resulted in 16 Cougar points.
Bo Aldridge and Kobe Smith each had 19 points apiece to lead the Blue Dragon scoring. D.J. Dudley had 17, while Mikhail Abdul-Hamid finished with 12 and Khalil Arnold 11.
Barton was led by Keandre Kindell with 24 points and five assists. The Cougars hit 28 of 34 from the foul line, including many down the stretch.
Hutchinson will host Fort Hays Tech NW (5-11, 3-9) on Saturday at 4 p.m. inside of the Sports Arena. The game will be broadcasted on KHUT-FM (102.9) and the Blue Dragon Sports Network with pregame coverage starting at 1:45 p.m.
