ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug charges after an arrest.
Just before 1a.m. Tuesday, police officers conducted an investigation that began in the downtown Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
The investigation led officers to the area of 6th and Park in Atchison where they recovered evidence that included controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. They also arrested 35-year-old Jerami Schmelzle on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $10,000 bond, according to Wilson.
