Trinidad ‘Juney’ Duarte, Jr., 71, of Hutchinson, died July 31, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 19, 1950, in Granada, CO, to Trinidad Avila and Ruth (Vargas) Duarte.

Juney graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969. He joined the United States Navy right after graduation and served from 1969 to 1972. Juney retired from Eaton Corporation where he worked as a machinist for over 40 years. He was a family man who adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with his family and friends. If he was not home, you could find him at his daughter's house, the radiator shop, or another buddy’s house hanging out. Juney enjoyed fishing, watching football, basketball, golf, and other sports, and going to the movies. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #982, Hutchinson.

He married Terry McMillen on May 17, 1985. They later divorced.

Juney is survived by: his children, Heather Duarte (Brett Buell) of Hutchinson, Trinidad “TJ” Duarte (Nikia Stone) of Salina; grandchildren, Brantley and Beckett of Hutchinson, Autumn, Colin, and Trinidad Jr. of Salina; siblings, Mary (Larry) Lingerfelt of Moorpark, CA; Bobby (Adela) Duarte of Denver, CO; Vera (Mike) Lackey of Topeka; Eleanor (Ron) Lawson of Wichita; Andy Duarte, Stevie Duarte, Billy (Shari) Duarte, and Peter Duarte, all of Hutchinson; Geralyn (Ralph) Espinoza of Wichita; and Gina (John) Glenn of Nickerson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Manuel Duarte, Trinidad Duarte, Jr. II, David Duarte, Patrick Duarte, and Kirene McJuckin.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, with Todd Ray officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
