Wichita, KS- The Wind Surge fell short to the Arkansas Travelers 5-2 on Saturday night behind first inning struggles from Wichita starter Simeon Woods Richardson.

Arkansas scored four early runs in the first inning featuring a two-run homer from Travelers center fielder Cade Marlowe to give the Travelers a 4-0 lead.

After a shaky first inning on the mound, Wichita starter Simeon Woods Richardson settled in and went on to pitch four straight scoreless innings. Richardson allowed four runs on four hits and tallied three strikeouts before being relieved by Denny Bentley.

Wichita scored two runs in the seventh inning as DeShawn Keirsey Jr. hit an RBI-double that scored Chris Williams and Dennis Ortega to cut the deficit in half to 4-2.

Steven Cruz came in for relief in the eighth inning for the Surge and allowed a runner to score on a balk, extending the Travelers lead to 5-2 and Wichita was unable to respond in the ninth.

Arkansas leads the series three games to two with the series finale coming up Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
