Hutchinson Community College sophomore safety D.J. Jester was named the KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping the top-ranked Blue Dragons to a shutout victory last Saturday at Gowans Stadium.
Jester and the No. 1 Blue Dragons blanked No. 10 Coffeyville 31-0.
Jester, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound safety from Homestead, Florida, was Hutchinson's leading tackler against the Red Ravens with five tackles, and he recorded his second interception of the season on Coffeyville's opening drive of the second half.
Jester is the third different Blue Dragon this season to win defensive weekly honors. He joins Teegan Haines and Darius Wiley as Defensive Player of the Week winners. He is the ninth overall Blue Dragon to win a conference honor this season.
