Arthur Jacob Boese was born June 10, 1926 in Goessel, to Jacob and Anna (Goertz) Boese.  He passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, reaching the age of 95 years.  Art was the oldest of four siblings: Martha, Johnny, and Irvin.

Art grew up on the family farm and attended Hochfeld school and the Goessel High School until his sophomore year when he quit to help with the farming, because of the draft.

On May 28, 1944, Art was baptized by Rev. P.P. Buller and received as a member into the Goessel Mennonite Church.

Art and Ann Schroeder were married on October 4, 1949.  This union was blessed with two sons, Robert in 1952 and Rodney in 1962.  They lived in Brainard and in the Potwin area the first six years of their married life, where Art had a farm job.  During this time, they attended Emmaus Mennonite Church and joined their membership, later transferring to the Alexanderwohl Church.  In 1956, they rented a farm north of Goessel and set up farming.  Through out Art’s farming years, he also worked at various jobs to supplement the farm income.  He worked for Unruh’s Service Station, Hehr International, Roundup in Hillsboro and Hesston Corporation.  In 1991, he retired from Hesston Corp. but continued farming, turning their farming over to son, Rodney a few years later, but continuing to help him as long as he was able.

Art also served on the Mennonite Heritage Museum board for several years and trustee in the church for a time.  After retirement, he enjoyed some woodworking projects and refinishing furniture.

His parents; sister, Martha; brothers, Johnny, and Irvin and wife Edma; and one great-grandson preceded him in death.

Those who remain are his wife of 72 years, Ann Boese; two sons, Robert Boese and Rodney (Sherry) Boese, both of rural Goessel; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:15 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Alexanderwohl Church Cemetery, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m., at the church.  Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel. Masks are required at the visitation and funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 96, Goessel 67053.
