NEWTON, Kan. — Have you thought about running for public office?
The City of Newton is pleased to partner with Ready to Run, a newly formed nonpartisan organization designed to help prepare those interested in elected or appointed office at the local level. The inaugural class will kick off in mid-January with eight half-day sessions on leadership, campaigning, conflict resolution, and how local governments work. There will be two sessions on City government, two on County government, and two on school districts.
Applications are open to any Harvey County citizen, and there is no requirement to run for an elected position. Applications are available from the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, 500 N. Main Ste. 101, or at bit.ly/readytorunharvey.
