
SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a shooting during an attempted carjacking ten days ago have made an arrest.
Just before 8p.m. January 22, police were dispatched to 1510 SW Wanamaker on a report of a possible shooting, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.
Officers located an individual with an apparent gunshot wound that was found to be non-life threatening. The victim had been approached by an individual who attempted to rob him of his vehicle.
During the robbery attempt, the suspect later identified as Lasharra Riley, 30, Topeka, shot the victim and ran from the area.
On February 1, police with the assistance of U.S. Marshals located Riley and took him into custody.
He booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on the following charges of Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and a Registration Violation, according to Johnson.
