
The USD 308 Board of Education met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday evening.
In the meeting the board of education was presented with a first look at the 2025-2026 calendar. This proposal was developed by the calendar committee.
This committee is composed of five USD 308 staff members, five HNEA members and three parents. A survey was conducted amongst staff and parents so they could gather input on an additional non-contact day. As a result of the survey, Sept. 8 was selected, this coincides with the Kansas State Fair. The survey also addressed any potential for a late start, a topic discussed during the last board meeting.
In other board business, they approved the purchase of 1,200 Chrome Books for student use. These will replace older Chromebooks that are four years or older. The board also approved the purchase of 300 Apple MacBook laptops for staff to replace those that are four years or older that are being used by staff.
The board approved the first phase of ClearTouch Interactive Display Panels, these are replacing panels that were purchased in 2018 and 2019 which have reached the end of support.
Replacement of flooring at Faris was approved. This work will be done this summer.
