The Kansas Highway Patrol is warning the public about a fraudulent text message circulating across the state that falsely claims to be selling discounted shirts in support of the agency.
Officials say the message includes a suspicious link and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Kansas Highway Patrol. The texts are part of a “smishing” scam — a phishing attempt delivered via SMS — designed to trick recipients into revealing personal information.

Authorities urge anyone who receives such a message not to click the link.
"The Kansas Highway Patrol does not send unsolicited text messages and does not sell merchandise online," the agency said in a statement Monday.
Residents who receive similar messages are encouraged to report them to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to help authorities track and stop the scam.
