GODDARD, Kan. — Tanganyika Wildlife Park has been named one of the Best Animal Encounters in the United States, according to the 2024 Newsweek Readers' Choice Awards. This prestigious recognition comes as a result of a public vote and expert panel review, with Tanganyika standing out among nominees from across the nation and taking the 2nd place prize.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park has long been celebrated for its "Wildly Different Experiences," offering guests unique and intimate interactions with animals that are unparalleled in the country. Visitors can choose from an array of immersive encounters, including hand-feeding giraffes, walking alongside kangaroos, and even enjoying a swim with penguins. Tanganyika's commitment to providing close, meaningful animal experiences sets it apart, allowing guests to connect with wildlife in a way that is both educational and awe-inspiring.

"We are incredibly honored to receive this award from Newsweek," said Matt Fouts, Director of Tanganyika Wildlife Park. "Our team is dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences that foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for wildlife. To be recognized on a national level, especially by the public and experts in the field, is a testament to the hard work and passion that goes into making Tanganyika a one-of-a-kind destination."

This award not only highlights Tanganyika's excellence in guest experience but also underscores its role in wildlife preservation and education. Through its various programs and partnerships, the park continues to contribute to the preservation of endangered species and inspire future generations to care for the planet's biodiversity.

“We can’t forget to shout out some of our friends who also made the list. Wilstem Wildlife Park, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, and Bearizona Wildlife Park are facilities we network with at our annual zoo conference. We’re excited to be in the top 10 with them as well.” LynnLee Schmidt, COO congratulations all the winners and had fun with some healthy competition amongst peers.
