MCPHERSON, Kan. — Attendance at student activities has broken records this semester for the McPherson College Student Activities Board (SAB), and now three of its leaders have an opportunity to present at a national conference and share their secrets for success. Kamden Tackett, president, Taylor Starr, vice president, and Kyle Barron, Student Government Association representative, were selected to present at the National Association of Campus Activities conference in California in November.

The students will present how to host engaging events based on their success with recent student activities. If selected by conference attendees in November, the students would be eligible to make their presentation at the NACA national convention in Philadelphia in February.

“Kyle and I attended our first NACA conference last year, and now we get to present at the conference this year,” said Tackett. “We are all excited, especially after our successes in getting students involved this year.”

SAB will host an event on campus on Saturday, September 21, for the campus and community to raise funds for the expenses of traveling to the conference. The SAB Spectacular kicks off Saturday at noon with a color run and continues throughout the day with several activities, admission to the men’s soccer match, and an evening football game. Activities that day will include inflatables, a petting zoo, lawn games, a CARS Club Cruise-in, and dinner. The new Boiler House will also be open during the event.

“We wanted to reach beyond students and families to include community members,” said Starr. “We are excited to bring the community together on campus for a fun day.”

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and can be done at https://sites.google.com/view/sabspectacular/home or at the event. Discounted tickets are available for children, McPherson College students, staff, faculty, and groups of seven or more. Donations will also be accepted by contacting Sarah Wood at [email protected].
