Newton woman injured in Sunday accident in Wichita

WICHITA — An early Sunday morning accident in Wichita resulted in minor injuries to a Newton woman.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2014 Infiniti Q50 driven by 22-year-old Chazz Francisco Martinex was southbound on I-135 at the north junction with I-235 around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and went off the roadway to the right. The car went into the ditch and hit the embankment and that forced the vehicle airborne. The Infiniti struck the bottom of the bridge on the south pillar,then went down the other side of the embankment and hit the guard rail, where it came to rest.

Martinex was not hurt. His passenger, 22-year-old Jessica Sue Stucky of Newton was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment of minor injuries. According to the report, Martinex was buckled up, while Stucky was not.
