SEATTLE, Wash. – K-State's Brady Day was taken in the 12th round (No. 369 overall) by the Atlanta Braves on the final day of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft.
Day, a 6-foot-0 product of Hampstead, N.H., was the second Wildcat taken in this year's MLB Draft, as Nick Goodwin was picked in the seventh round by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.
A year after hitting .284, the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection had an explosive season slashing .356/.492/.459 with nine doubles, one triple and three home runs. His .356 average led the Wildcats offense as he was also the team leader in hits (69) and walks (49), including a .381 average in conference action.
Day generated a team-high 20 multi-hit games and reached base in 36 consecutive contests. He was the second toughest player in the league to strikeout, striking out just 22 times in 194 at-bats (8.8 at-bats per strikeout).
He becomes the second letterwinner in school history selected by the organization alongside Brad Rippelmeyer in 1991.
Head coach Pete Hughes has now overseen 84 draftees in his 26-year head coaching career, with 10 coming in five seasons at K-State. K-State has now had at least one player taken in 19 of the last 20 MLB Drafts.
