COLBY, Kan. â The final Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Football Player of the Week honors have been announced with Hutchinsonâs Waymond Jordan Jr. (Offensive), Kedrick Walker (Defensive), and Butlerâs Chevy Edwards (Special Teams) each earning the final awards of the season.
Offensive Player of the Week (Waymond Jordan Jr. - Hutchinson)
-Waymond Jordan Jr., a sophomore running back from Pensacola, Florida, posted his eighth 100-yard rushing game of the season and jumped four spots on the Blue Dragon single-season rushing list to No. 7 in number two Hutchinson's 42-17 win over Garden City. For the game, Jordan rushed 22 times for 135 yards and one touchdown. Now with 1,332 yards for the season, the NJCAA's leading rusher moved into seventh place on the Blue Dragon single-season rushing list and is tied with Alvin Kamara for second in single-season rushing touchdowns with 18.
Defensive Player of the Week (Kedrick Walker - Hutchinson)
âSophomore linebacker Kedrick Walker had a career-high nine tackles in leading the number two ranked Blue Dragons defensively in a 42-17 victory over Garden City on Saturday. Walker had seven solo tackles and a key tackle on a Garden City fourth-down play in the first half with the game tied at 7-7.
Special Teams Player of the Week (Chevy Edwards - Butler)
âEdwards finished with five punts in a 7-3 win over Iowa Central and had a 41.6-yard average. He had a long of 53 and put one punt inside the 20. He punted impressively despite wind gusts up to 25 mph throughout the game.
