HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Board of Reno County Commissioners spoke about Hutchinson Regional Medical Center as part of their commissioner's comments on Tuesday.
"I got to visit the hospital last Friday," Daniel Friesen said. "It's worth your time. There's a lot of space in the hospital that cannot be used right now, because of staffing issues. Fully equipped, state-of-the-art facilities, but they're dark. They're working hard on that. The piece I appreciated the most was the conversation with Chuck Welch, Wes Hoyt and Ken Johnson."
Ron Sellers noted that Hutchinson is not the only place that needs nurses.
"This hospital problem with staffing is not going to be a short-term situation," Sellers said. "We drove people out of that occupation with the work they had to do last year. It's going to take a long time."
Ron Hirst noted that the people who are still at the hospital are dedicated and doing what they can to improve the situation.
