HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Salvation Army is holding a donut eating contest Saturday in Hutchinson.
Donuts are a Salvation Army tradition that goes back to when ladies were sent over to make sweet treats for the troops in World War I.
The event is a fundraiser for Salvation Army camps and for the international work of the Salvation Army.
The event itself will happen at the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 200 South Main Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
There will be little red kettles in front of each competitor that morning, or you can donate online at their Facebook page. They will also be streaming the event live there, if you can't make it out on Saturday.
