W. Roy Ralston, 105, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at South Wind Home. He was born April 3, 1916 on a farm Southeast of Kismet in Seward County to Walter R and Florence (Thompson) Ralston. Walter married Ila F. (Covey) Ralston on May 15, 1937 in Pratt. They were married for 82 years when she preceded him in death on December 19, 2019.
Roy moved to Pratt County in 1930. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 20th Infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He owned and operated Ralston Trucking Service (R & R Truck) for 16 years. He was a manager and salesman for Mid Kansas Irrigation. He was a member of Pratt Elks and Pratt Saddle Club. He enjoyed horses and spending time with grandson and great-grandsons and welding.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Ralston (Bobby Stone) Slade of Euless, Texas; grandson, Jeff (Amy) Slade of Haviland; and great-grandsons, Wyatt, Buck, Justin and Tucker Slade.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ila F. Ralston.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2021 at Sunset Cemetery, Cullison with John Hamm presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunset Cemetery in care of Larrison Mortuary.
