HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Pack-the-SAC night was a huge success for the Hutchinson High School varsity teams on Friday night as both the varsity girls and boys came up big in wins over Salina South.

Girls recap:

Senior Grace Posh led the Salthawk girls with 22 points while fellow senior Kaia Smith scored 15.

The Salthawks led early 14-7 and never looked back. Defense was the key as the Cougars averaged 25.3 points per game coming in to the night, but Hutch found a way to stop everyone but Paitlyn Fritz who scored 16.

Hutch High (8-5) will now travel to Valley Center on Tuesday night.

Boys recap:

Terrell King led the Salthawks in scoring with 18 points while Jalen Crable added 17 including three long bombs in the second quarter that helped extend the Salthawk lead to 36=17 at half-time. Taishaun Govain also had a solid night with 15 points, the majority coming in the second half.

Jason Meyers led Salina South with 9 as no Cougars scored in double digits on the night.

With the Salthawk win, Hutchinson snapped a seven game losing streak and earned their first win of 2025 after dropping several close games that came down to the wire and ended with losses. Hutch (5-8) will travel to Valley Center on Tuesday.
