Police: Victim in Salina shooting dies, 3rd suspect jailed

The victim in Monday's shooting in Salina has died and three people now face charges in connection to his death.

Just after 1p.m. Tuesday, 25-year-old Camilo Renaldo Ramirez died at a hospital in Wichita, according to Salina police.

The police department delayed reporting Ramirez's death at the request of his family, who chose to donate his organs, according to Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus.

While continuing to investigate the homicide case, police arrested a third suspect identified as Kiera Stewart, 22, of Salina, on requested charges of Felony murder and Attempted aggravated robbery

Just after 4p.m. Monday, a suspect shot Ramirez near the intersection of Front Street and E. Iron Avenue in Salina.

Police, who were dispatched to the area for the report of gunshots, found Ramirez in the street with critical injuries. Police also found his dog dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot.

Additionally, a front window at Fresh Market, 511 E. Iron Avenue, and a nearby CityGo bus stop sign sustained damage from bullets during the shooting.

According to information from police, surveillance videos near the shooting scene showed a vehicle circling the area. It then stopped and two people got out and began shooting.

Through the course of the investigation on Monday, detectives developed the names of two persons of interest: Jamie Leos, Jr., 24, and Juan Doroteo Morales, 34. After questioning, both were arrested and booked into the Saline County Jail.

According to Saline County Jail booking information from Wednesday, requested charges for both Leos and Morales were upgraded to first degree murder.
