
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The first of two days of budget meetings is set for Thursday for the Reno County Commission. All of the department heads will be before the commission Thursday and Friday as the county tries to hammer out the 2021 numbers.
Commissioners will meet with County Administrator Randy Partington along with the sheriff’s department, the health department, information service, human and youth services, the department of aging and Rcat, and district court Thursday. The rest of the department heads will meet with commissioners on Friday.
The county is looking to cut as much as $2 million from the budget for next year as tax revenues are expected to be down because of the pandemic.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and will run through the noon hour at the Reno County Courthouse.
