👟 Blue Dragon women post 3 program top 10 times at Chile Pepper

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – Running in the university division, the Hutchinson Community College women's cross country team ran for three individual Top 10 program marks on Saturday at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival.

Sophomore Ashara Frater was the top NJCAA runner in the Harter's Habanero women's 5K race, placing 35th. Frater ran for a career-best 5K time of 17:28.7. That time is the third-fastest time in Blue Dragon women's cross country history.

Freshman Maureen Jepchirchir posted the eighth-fastest 5K time in program history with a time of 18:39.7. Jepchirchir placed 131st overall.

Sophomore Kimberlin Lovell ran career-best 5K time of 18:49.6 to place 145th overall. Lovell cut 1 minute, 2 seconds off her career-best 5K time as a freshman. Lovell's time was the 10th-fastest time in program history.

The Blue Dragons weren't able to post a team score on Saturday with only three runners competing.

Arkansas won the team title with 69 points and Mississippi State was second with 83 points. Arkansas runner Braelyn Combe was the individual winner with a time of 15:59.0

The Blue Dragons run at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open next Saturday in Hays.
