HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Add another area lake to the long list of blue-green algae warnings issued by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Marion Reservoir was added to the list after spending the past several weeks on the watch list. Marion joins Cheney Lake and Marion County Lake on the warning list. They are the only area lakes on the list.
The warning means most, if not all, contact with the water should be avoided. Fish may be eaten if they are rinsed with clean water and only the fillet portion is consumed, while all other parts are discarded. Do not allow pets to eat dried algae and, if lake water contacts skin, wash with clean water as soon as possible.
